The Feast of Dedication: Deny Yourself and Follow Him

A sermon on Hanukkah and its relevance for today

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking at my local congregation, Founded In Truth Fellowship, where I discussed the significance of Hanukkah. I highlighted three reasons why the message of this holiday remains relevant today:

  1. Hanukkah reminds us of God’s commitment to the Jewish people. This reminder holds particular significance today in light of the recent rise in antisemitism worldwide.

  2. Hanukkah reminds us to prioritize God’s will above our own. The culture demands that we stop taking God’s word so seriously, and it is often temping to give in to cultural pressures to compromise. The story of Hanukkah inspires us to remain steadfast in our adherence to God’s word.

  3. Hanukkah is all about the Messiah. The Messiah embodies the message of Hanukkah in his mission and teachings.

I hope this sermon blesses you and gives you some things to reflect on this Hanukkah season. Chag Sameach!
